UNI-CAM CNC SYSTEMS is a friendly manufacturing company growing steadily in the heart of Diepriver, Cape Town, South Africa. It was formed in January 2003 and originally specialized in general engineering. Due to an absolute fascination with automatic and robotic machining, we investigated, researched and now developed our own CNC brand called, UNI-CAM.

The UNI-CAM brand is so called because it is basically one type of CAM system which can be used to drive a variety of CNC machines like mills, lathes, routers, hot wire cutters, plasma cutters and digitizers.

UNI-CAM CNC SYSTEMS is now primarily concerned with the development of locally produced industrial quality CNC MACHINES for the local South African market.

For too long we South Africans have stood aside and bought our machinery and technologies from the rest of the world thinking... "if it is imported, it must be better!" This is particularly true for the CNC Machine market. We have found that with the quality and capability of ordinary off the shelf computers and CNC controller software currently available, CNC machinery can be both reliable and affordable to the public and industrial sector right NOW!

The bottom line here is... the PC’s are quick, the controller software is reliable, the toolpathing programs are only getting easier and easier to operate, the bearings are good... all that is left is to build a sturdy, well made machine frame (with a bit of style) to attach the whole lot to! it is really not that hard to build a good, reliable CNC machine anymore!

We need to understand that CNC stands for "computer-numerical-control" and not "complicated numerical control". Many people will like to have you think that it is all a very difficult to understand kind of technology which is best left to the specialist and that way you will stay off their turf, but the truth is that CNC machining is easy to work and it is affordable. Owning and operating a CNC machine is well within your reach - right NOW!
